The chief and people of Assin in the Central Region have urged President Akufo-Addo to appoint Kennedy Ohene-Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central as the Central Regional Minister.
The Tufuhene of Effutu Akwa traditional area who spoke on behalf of the chiefs and people, said that they were making preparations to pay a visit to President Akufo-Addo as a form of welcome, and ask him to appoint a minister position from the area.
According to them, the Assin Traditional area which encompasses the Assin North, South and Central constituencies have paid their dues to the new NPP administration and as such deserve to be rewarded with a ministerial appointment.
He added people like the NPP’s National Organizer and Acting General Secretary, John Boadu; former General Secretary, Nana Ohene Ntow, and the three MPs from Assin North, South and Central have all paid their dues to the party, and thus deserved recognition as well.
The chief stated that the President, having worked with Kennedy Agyapong and John Boadu is well aware of their capabilities.
However, it should be recalled that after the NPP were declared the new government to take over the reins of the country, Kennedy Agyapong had said that he was not interested in a ministerial position.
