An atmosphere of chaos has erupted in the Fanteakwa district in the Eastern Region after supporters of the New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Congress clashed over a vehicle.
Reports coming state that incensed NPP supporters attacked a driver of the district assembly on suspicion that he was attempting to run off with an official vehicle on the instruction of the District Chief Executive Fuseini Sbaabe.
The supporters then forcibly led the driver to park the vehicle at the district police station, after mounting road blocks on his way.
It turned out however, that the vehicle was being sent to the washing bay to be cleaned up for a formal handing over by the DCE.
This action of the NPP supporters apparently angered the NDC supporters in the area who also followed up at the Police station in defense of the DCE, which started the clashes.
The incident was confirmed by the DCE for the area.
This incident comes in the wake of the dismissal of all Municipal, Metropolitan and District Chief Executives by President Nana Akufo-Addo on Thursday.
