President Nana Akufo-Addo, along with the vice-president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia called on Alan Kyeremanten, the Trade minister-designate to extend their condolences following the death of his sister who was a a victim of last year's La Trade fair gas explosion.
Brigitte Kyeremanten-Darko was among the over 40 persons who sustained severe injuries from the La Gas explosion which had initially claimed 11 lives.
However, her passing way on Wednesday morning adds the number of deaths from the explosion to 12.
It should be recalled that President Nana Addo, explained that Mr Alan Kyerematen was absent at the time he was named as part of President Akufo-Addo's ministerial nominees on Tuesday at the Flagstaff House, because his sister’s condition had worsened, which required him to be at the hospital.
On Thursday, December 22 2016, a gas tanker while emptying the gas into the containers on site caught fire and exploded near the La Trade Fair center.
According to results of preliminary investigations by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) into the incident, the explosion was caused by ‘irresponsible human error.’
Brigitte Kyeremanten-Darko was married to Mr. Darko of GC-NET.
