President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed admiration for the former President Mahama's conduct throughout the transition period.
According to President Akufo-Addo, regardless of whatever controversies that may currelty surround the former Ghanaian president, President Mahama is to be commended for overseeing a seamless transition of power. Something not too many African countries can boast, the Gambia being a good example.
Over the last couple of weeks the Ghanaian pubic has been enthralled in a series of events concerning former President Mahama's retirement residence, with members of the public from either side of the divide giving ample commentary on what they felt should be done.

President Mahama effectively ended the debacle with the rescinding of his request to occupy the residence at No. 3. Prestige Link, Cantonments, and has reportedly begun packing up to move into a house somewhere in Airport Residential Area.
President Akufo-Addo, speaking at a thanksgiving service organized by the Accra Ridge Church on Sunday January 15th, 2017, said the former president ought to be celebrated for his conduct.
“Our thanks on this occasion goes to my predessessor the President John Mahama, who followed in the worthy footsteps of his illustrous predessessors, the President Jerry John Rawlings, the President John Agyekum Kufour and supervised a peaceful transmission of power. Despite the controversies surrounding his settlement, his conduct has been a credit to the nation and we must all give thanks to the Almighty God."
