According to the NDC constituency Chairman for Upper Denkyira East, Nicholas Quaicoo, the two officers were surprised by local security men during their nefarious venture. All suspects were severely beaten by local mine workers before they were turned over to police.
The arrested officers, upon interrogation, later alleged that they were only serving as escorts to robbers that had claimed to be gold miners.
Reports state that if it wasn't for the NDC constituency chairman's intervention, the suspects would have been lynched by local mine workers.
