A 37-year-old Cape Coast-based journalist, Emmanuel Orlando Matrevi, notorious for collecting naked photos of women and blackmailing them for sex has been arrested by the police.
Emmanuel allegedly stocks on naked pictures from various women and then threaten to publish them in the public domain if he is refused sex.
The Coastal TV employee is said to be in the custody of the Central Regional police station where he is being investigated.
The Central Regional Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent Baffour Appenteng told Onua FM’s Kwame Kakarba that the suspect has been pretending to be someone domiciling in abroad, which he used to lure the girls through social media.
After developing a trusting intimate relationship with the victims, Emmanuel then requests for naked pictures which he normally receives. He then arranges to meet the girls at a location, after telling them he is in town.
Upon meeting the ladies, Emmanuel reveals his true identity and proceeds to demand for sex from them. A negative response to his requests then leads to threats of making their naked photos public.
This plan has allegedly worked on some of the victims who go ahead to sleep with him to save themselves the potential shame.
However, after series of sexual encounter with one of his victims, Chief Supt. Appenteng said the lady got fed up and reported Emmanuel to the police.
The accused was arrested and granted bail about a week ago, but days later another girl reported his nefarious activity to the police and was re-arrested.
Emmanuel’s iPad with the naked pictures is in the possession of the police but he has denied circulating any of the pictures. He would be arraigned before a court of law soon, the police said.
