Edward Mahama, the former presidential candidate for the People’s National Convention (PNC), has commended President Nana Akufo-Addo for his choice of ministers to serve in his administration, and asks Ghanaians to go easy on the young government.
According to Dr. Mahama, the calibre of people that President Akufo-Addo has appointed to man the ministries are efficient because many of them have a vast experience in working and managing public offices.
Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Dr. Edward Mahama mentioned that the likes of Professor Frimpong Boateng assigned to head the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ken Ofori-Atta as the minister-designate for the finance sector are appropriate due to their rich experience in their respective fields.
“I see Akufo-Addo’s appointments as appropriate. The president has given them the opportunity, and now let us see how they will serve. I am aware that some new ministries have been created but I will say let’s wait and see what will happen,” he stated.
Even though he campaigned on lean government, Dr. Mahama reminded the president’s critics on the number of ministerial appointees to take note of the fact that Nana Akufo-Addo was voted for by Ghanaians who are waiting to see their needs met.
“… remember that Nana Akufo-Addo was voted for by the people of Ghana as president, and I will give him space to form his government to see if he can deliver the aspirations for which he was voted.”
