Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central in the Central Region, has said the party would prosecute the heads of three state institutions in Ghana and jail them.
The three, he said, are the director of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Ernest Thompson, managing director of Bulk Oil Storage and Transport (BOST), Kingsley Kwame Awuah-Darko, and former chief executive officer of COCOBOD, Stephen Opuni.
Agyapong, a leading member of the NPP, said the three men were guilty of corrupt practices and would be thrown into jail.
He said Opuni, for instance, had been engaged in misappropriation and embezzlement of COCOBOD funds and that the former CEO had been shredding documents which implicated him.
“People have been arguing with me when I speak but the evidence is enormous that I don’t know where to start from. I am emphatic based on the documents we have. If we don’t punish these people for their wrong doings, NPP officials will come and do same and Ghanaians will vote against us.
“The documents are here and we shall be interrogating them in the coming days. Ghanaians will be shocked when details of these documents are made public. They will see the havoc these NDC appointees have wreaked on the economy of the country which Nana Addo must struggle to build”, he said.
Agyapong was speaking on “Badwam” on Adom television.
