The Deputy General secretary of the New Patriotic Party in a press conference on Thursday, sent strong words of warning to the National Democratic Congress executives, demanding they desist from raining insults on President Akufo-Addo or risk facing their wrath.
According to Nana Obiri Boahen, President Akufo-Addo has been accused of being the mastermind behind the Invicible Forces, which is an alleged security wing of the NPP.
He also stated that the NDC had always tried to paint President Nana Akufo-Addo as a violent person.
Speaking at the Press conference at the party's headquarters in Accra, Nana Obiri Boahen said, "As for Kofi Portuphy, Asiedu Nketia, Koku Anyidoho, and their gang, ladies and gentlemen, we shall caution that from now on if they throw mud at the president in whom we unprecedentedly and majority of Ghanaians reposed their confidence in, we will pay them back in equal measure. Enough is enough."
It should be recalled that after the NDC lost the 2016 general elections, reports of takeovers of state facilities and attacks on NDC members by supposed NPP supporters, emerged. The NDC called a press conference to condemn these attacks and accused the NPP of perpetuating these attacks.
However, according to Nana Boahen, the "acerbic and intemperate language poured on the president” is quite tactless.
He has therefore called on the NDC executives to desist from the verbal abuse they rain down President Akufo-Addo.
