The PPP has contested in two elections so far – in 2012 and in 2016. However the party has failed to garner enough votes during that period.
In last December’s elections the party gained just one per cent of the total votes cast.
That appears to have discouraged Ackah who is the PPP’s chairman in Tarkwah in the Western Region.
Ackah told journalists that he “cannot be in a party which is not serious to win elections in Ghana.”
He added that the party lacks the necessary structures to challenge for the positions, hence his reason for joining the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
