A Member of Parliament (MP) has challenged President Akufo-Addo to disclose the gifts he received during his campaign on the run-up to the 2016 general elections.
Hon Ebenezer Okietey Terlabi, MP for Lower Manya Krobo, has challenged President Akufo Addo to go the extra mile and disclose, not just his current assets, but also gifts he received on campaign.
“I am saying this because I know every human being despite his/her position is not 100% upright, therefore I believe it will not be right for members of the ruling party to conclude that President Akufo-Addo is incorruptible for refusing a GH¢500,000 Christmas Hamper offered to him by an unnamed corporate organization,” he said.

He added, “I can’t say the president accepted the gift or not but we [Ghanaians] should stop pretending because nobody, not even the wife of the president can prove with evidence to me that the president when flagbearer or all his life has never received a gift or an item known to be a gift to him personally.”
On the other hand, New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency, Hon. Frank Annor-Dompreh, has completely refuted claims Hon Terlabi's claims and said that he's not surprised the president to refuse gifts worth GHC500,000 because he knew what kind of person he is.
“ . . But how would a president who before appointing his ministers warned that any minister who has in mind thoughts of amassing wealth in his tenure of office should be ready to face the laws of the land; would he not set good examples for them [minister] to follow?” Hon. Annor-Dompreh asked.
