Several foreigners from Europe and America are also visiting the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi to pay their last respect to the late Asantehenewaa.

They are also using the opportunity to observe how royal funerals are undertaken.

Some of the foreigners also took off their shoes as they made their way into the palace in line with prevailing customs and tradition.

Businesses have closed in Kumasi ahead of the Asantehemaa's burial on Thursday night.

Residents have been asked to stay indoors from 7pm tonight till 4am on Friday, as the body of the late Asantehemaa makes its way to the Bantama Mausoleum (Ban mu) and later to the Breman Mausoleum for burial.
