Dr. Edward Mahama, 2012 and 2016 Peaple's National Convention (PNC) flag-bearer, has been accused of misappropriating party funds.
According to accusations made by Mr. Mr Haruna Mohammed, Deputy General Secretary in charge of Finance and Administration of the PNC, Dr. Edward Nasigri Mahama allegedly took funds belonging the PNC and used it for his own personal gain by purchasing treasury bills.
This, said Mr. Mohammed, is one of the primary reasons why the PNC performed poorly during last year's December 7th general elections.
Speaking during an interview granted to the Ghana News Agency, Mr. Mohammed expressed that among other things, Dr. Edward Mahama leadership style was also one of the factors that caused the PNC to lose the recent elections.

He further stated that whenever the party flag-bearer was needed to speak to party executives regarding a pressing matter during the campaign, Dr. Mahama was never available.
Deputy Secretary General Mohammed therefore urged the party's leadership to launch an investigation into the matter of Dr. Mahama's financial dealings and the party's poor performance during last year's elections.
Dr. Mahama, in when contacted in attempt to get a comment in response to the allegations, said that there was no element of truth to the matter and therefore felt no need to respond to the allegations.
