President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed Joseph Anokye as the acting Director General of the National Communication Authority.
The appointment was contained in a January 24, 2017, letter signed by the communications minister-designate, Ursula Owusu Ekuful, who acted as the president's representative.
"By copy of this letter, the Deputy Directors General of the NCA are requested to facilitate the handing over process and your early settlement into the new position," the letter said.
Until his appointment Anokye worked at The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), an independent agency of the executive branch of the United States federal government responsible for the civilian space program as well as aeronautics and aerospace research.
Anokye, who ran ICT for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2016 elections, is credited with putting in place systems that enabled the party determine within less than eight hours that Akufo-Addo had won.
His appointment is expected to take effect immediately.
