Ghana Football Association Technical Director, Oti Akenten is optimistic about the chances of the Black Stars in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Ghana has already secured qualification into the quarter-finals of the tournament, having recorded 1-0 victories over Uganda and Mali in group D.

However, the team has failed to win the coveted gold in the last 35 years.
The GFA’s technical director feels this could be the time to end that trophy drought, insisting the Black Stars “stand a good chance” of winning the trophy.
“The little discussion that I have had with the coach Avram Grant, I think the team is ready and we are waiting to see how it goes,” Oti Akenten is quoted as saying by Ultimatefmonline.

“From what we saw [in our game against Mali] if that is anything to go by, we [Ghana] stand a good chance in ultimately winning the cup.
“We know it is not going to be easy. We just started [the tournament] and can’t use one match to access countries or teams, so let’s wait for a little while but I think we are very much ready.”
The Black Stars need just a draw against Egypt in their final group game to secure top spot.
