One of the executive members of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has criticized President Akufo-Addo's choice of Dominic Ntiwul as Defense Minister.
According to the former army captain, 39-year-old Ntiwul, a legislator with 11 years of experience in legislative work is too young to represent the military at the Executive level.
Speaking to Joy FM, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe said, “I believe a more senior person [should have been put there]. I know the military well."
He further opined that the military will feel more “comfortable” with a high-ranking person.
However, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe admitted that “I really don’t know him [Nitiwul]. I know him as a young party man.”
He further advised Mr. Dominic Nitiwul to be respectful, adding that, “You are going to deal with people who are very straight forward. What they dislike is arrogance. The moment you display it that will be the end of you. I will advise him to be polite and calm."
Mr. Nitiwul is among the eight ministerial nominees who have been cleared by the Appointments Committee and are expected to be approved by Parliament on Thursday.
