Otiko Afisa Djaba, the Gender, Children and Social protection Minister designate, has denied claims that she insulted the Electoral Commissioner during the 2016 election period.
The Women’s Organizer of the New Patriotic Party in June last year apparently supported the 'sex-for-job' claims leveled against Madam Charlotte Osei by the MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong.
According to her, the statement by the Assin Central MP should have been investigated to dispel any doubts in the minds of the Ghanaian people
“We are going into an election, the referee is alleged to have something doing with one party in the game, and you say we shouldn’t find out the truth in it but rather crucify the person who made the allegation?” Otiko Djaba had allegedly stated in last year.
However, appearing before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday, Otiko Djaba said she never made any defamatory comments about the EC boss but only called for an inquiry into the allegation made by Mr. Agyapong.
“I emphatically and categorically state that I did not denigrate madam Charlotte Osei, all I said was that an investigation should be conducted so that her name is cleared,” she said.
