The Nana Akufo-Addo led-government is not bent on paying the 60% increment in allowance of National Service personnel across the country despite the announcement by his predecessor before heading out of office.

The erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) government approved new monthly allowances to be paid to personnel of the National Service Scheme beginning 1st January 2017.
According to a statement signed by the Chief Director at the Ministry of Finance, Patrick Nomo, personnel were to be paid to the tune of GH¢559.04 which represented a 60% increment from the GH¢350 they were being paid.

Reports indicate that several service personnel who went to the banks for their Janaury 2017 allowances were shocked to realize that the directive had not been followed.
Bank officials when contacted refused to explain why the amount has change despite the announcement in 2016.
