Police in Laikipia County have launched a manhunt for a teacher who allegedly killed a pupil.

The male teacher is reported to have ordered the girl's classmates at Mukandamia Primary School in Solio, Laikipia county to beat her up.
The teacher is said to have been angered after the standard 3 girl failed to read.

According to Daily Nation, the teacher injured the girl and tried to cover up the crime by ordering the other pupils to beat her up.
The pupil identified as Joy Wangari died on Sunday, January 29, days after the brutal beating.
According to one of the parents at the school, the girl lived with her aging grandmother.
The death of the child has angered parents and residents of the area who removed their children from the school in protest.
Kieni East OCPD Michael Mbaluku confirmed the assault report had been made but said the child's death is yet to be reported.
"The death has not been reported yet but we understand the child died in hospital. Doctors cannot ascertain the cause of death from physical examination once the post mortem is done well know the cause of death and steps to take," he said.
Police confirmed the teacher has gone missing and manhunt for him has began.
