Ghana’s Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has paid a visit to Parliament to ascertain the extent of damage after last night's downpour.
The chamber of Ghana’s Parliament was one of the affected buildings following Tuesday night’s heavy downpour in the capital.
The Chamber was left at the mercy of the rain with some electronic gadgets installed in the chamber badly affected.
Speaking after his tour, the Veep said: “we heard what happened last night and had to rush here this morning to actually see it. Thankfully, the damage has not been too much and some measures have been taken to try to contain the situation before permanent roofing is put in place.
“So, I am happy to see the consultant and the contractors are still around and they are going to repair the damage…”
Meanwhile, the leadership of Parliament has requested for a new chamber.
Dr Bawumia was taken round the facility by the Speaker. Rt. Hon. Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye and other members of the House.
