The heavy downpour of rain which caused shocking damage to the roof of parliament has seen the speaker of parliament, Professor Mike Ocquaye entreat government to aid in the construction of a new chamber.
“Having heard the problem here, the first thing this morning, he (Dr Bawumia) came to examine the situation. We are told that all relevant persons are in the process of [repairing] the damage and even applying some interim plastic sheets to make us work and you can see our members from both sides are ready to work. We need a new chamber and we trust that at the appropriate time, we shall have the ears of the executives,” he revealed in an interview with the press.
Meanwhile the Meterological agency claims it was not aware of an impending rain fall in Accra. Tuesday’s rains is reported to have caused havoc across several parts of the capital with bill boards being the hardest hit.
