For those of us thinking that the national service is mad at government over failure to pay increment in allowances, we may have to think again because authorities of the scheme say government truly did not capture the increment into their budget.
Service personnel are being assured of the payment of their allowance increment once governemnt captures the amount in the 2017 budget slated for March.
“The new administration is seriously making inputs into the March, 2017 national budget being prepared by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning,” the statement said.
The erstwhile Mahama administration had earlier revealed plans for the allowance of NSS personnel be increased from the present 350 cedis to 559 cedis. But personnel felt disappointed by the end of January when the request was not reflected in their account.
In the meantime, all service personnel have been requested to exercise restraint as the "Scheme remains committed to the well-being of National Service personnel”.
