The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has chosen his elder sister, Nana Ama Konadu as the new Asantehemaa (queen-mother) for the Asante kingdom.
Otumfuo made the choice in consultation with chiefs and other members of the royal family.
Nana Ama Konadu, 83, succeeds the Asantehemaa Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who died on November 14, 2016.
She was buried on January 19, 2017 after a one-week funeral and burial rites.
