President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has finally revealed who he favors for the Special Prosecutor position, and it's no other than lawyer Akoto Ampaw.

The celebrated lawyer as defended the media freedom and freedom of speech for years. Mr. Akoto Ampaw is said to have accepted President Akufo-Addo's appointment, and is currently waiting for the the procedures necessary in the setting up of the newly created office.

“His knowledge in law is deep and has defended many people in court over human rights abuses,” says a high powered source.

Lawyer Ampaw, commonly referred to as "She-She" by his close relations, was part of the New Patriotic Party's legal team during the party's petition after the 2012 general elections. He is a partner of Akufo-Addo’s law firm, Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co.

Mr. Ampaw’s latest case got the Supreme Court to order the EC to release collation sheets to the political parties prior to the December elections.
