It seems we may have to think again about Otiko Djaba free from not doing her national service because the secretariat claims the exemption given her is temporary.
The gender minister had a tough time getting approved b parliament after she revealed to have not done her service but head of the secretariat, Ussif Mustapha reveals that Otiko's brief exemption is because there is currently no board in place for the NSS.
“She has written to us, applied for an exemption and we have given her a temporal letter that will grant her the exemption whilst we are waiting for the board to be constituted properly. When there is no board, the president and the minister, which the president has appointed, is the person we consult during this period and he was duly consulted,” Ussif Mustapha explained to Citi FM.
The approval of Otiko as minister was one of the most heated moments in parliament as minority members boycotted proceedings threatening to follow the matter in court.
