French to made compulsory in all basic schools

The ministry of education says it plans making French compulsory for all students at the basic level.

Sector minister, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh says this plan is to make Ghana's youthful population versed in the language.

“There was the need to redefine the country’s relations with the French government to promote the speaking and learning of French at the tender age,” he added.

Ghana remains an anglophone country with the official language being English. But this development poses a challenge for the country especially when all bothering countries speak the French language.
