Private legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw has stated that he finds nothing wrong with Otiko Djaba's hairstyle, adding that her critics have no right to attack her because of it.
Otiko Djaba whose vetting process caused quite the controversy, has had new attacks on her person, with a focus on her very bold haircut.
The Gender minister however clapped-back at her critics on her hairstyle, stating in an interview with Joy News, "When you ask me about my hair, you discriminate against me because I have the right to maintain my hairstyle, it’s not crazy, and it’s very African. People call me the swagger mama. They enjoy me because I am young at heart and when I hit the campuses they're happy."
"My hair style doesn't affect the price of kenkey, my hairstyle does not affect poverty, my hairstyle is a winning hairstyle, and it encourages the young people. Ghana has about 65% of our population being the youth and being the Swagger Mama I believe that I am the best person to engage the youth," she added.
Maurice Ampaw, speaking further on the issue said, "This is very trivial. How do you want the person to look like? The hypocrisy of it! The people of Ghanaian are looking for a woman who will deliver... Do we care about the hairstyle? Where in the constitution is a prescription of how a minister should look? This is trivial. Those raising this concern have nothing to think about. They don’t have anything to contribute. If Otiko Djaba wants to look stylish, so be it. I like the hairstyle."
