Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced that his New Patriotic Party government will build two new police hospitals.

According to the president, the two new hospitals will be situated at Sunyani and Bolgatanga.

The two hospitals, when complete, will complement the work of the only police hospital located in Accra which has posed serious challenges of accessibility for personnel living in other parts of the country.
President Nana Addo revealed this while speaking at the 2016 annual WASSA of the Ghana Police Service. He added that, in addition to the new hospitals, two police training schools shall be built.

The President also spoke about equipping the police service with modern equipment to deal with modern day sophisticated crimes like cyber-crime and fraud which are on the increase in Ghana.
However, Nana Addo tasked the police force to weed out miscreants and redeem its image as government worked to provide the necessary facilities to strengthen the institution.

Acting Inspector General of Police David Asante Apeatu said the service will be embarking on restructuring to smoke out miscreants.
