A gas tanker is feared to have exploded at a petrol filling station behind the Ashiaman Timber market.
The disaster has seen close to 15 fire tenders rush to the scene to put out the raging flames as the entire area has been covered with smoke. Meanwhile, the Ghana Fire Service has denied reports that the explosion killed some persons.
Deputy Chief Fire Officer in charge of Operations, William Mensah said “We have not seen a single casualty let alone deaths as people are reporting.
So far, the cause of the explosion remain unknown but sources say it started at a filling station operated and spread into a nearby tanker yard. The level of property and lives lost is yet to be ascertained as police forces begin rigourous investigations.
