Speaking to the association's President, Mr. Mireku Hammond over the phone, he said that initially they were not given their appointment letters because their names had not been verified with the Nurses and Midwifery Council (NMC) for financial clearance.

The NMC finally released their list of names on November 11th, 2016, less than a month prior to the December 7th polls. According to a notification that came with the list of cleared names, the aggrieved nurses were to report to begin work on February 1st.

According to the aggrieved nurses - who all graduated in November of 2015 - there's no specific time they should've been posted, although they lament their 15 month long hiatus post graduation following a very stressful training program. They also state that other than hinting of recruitment discrepancies, no other reason has been given for the recent recruitment suspension.

COALITION OF NON POSTED COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSES AND NURSE ASSISTANTS CLINICALS (2015 YEAR GROUP)

◾◾◾◾◾◾◾◾◾◾◾◾◾◾◾◾◾◾◾◾◾◾

Greetings from the executives of Coalition of Non-posted Nurses (Community and Health Association). It is with a saddened heart that over 15 months after completing school, we are still in the house at this very moment without been posted. Our eyes are always filled with tears because of our predicament.

Fellow members, our hearts are filled with great disappointment yesterday when our President, His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo did not even talk about our issue in the state of the nation's address. As it stands now, our recruitment is in limbo following the recent suspension of the recruitment process by the Hon minister of Health, Dr Agyemang Manu. He came out clearly on air that the reason for the suspension is not about financial clearance since he was given the go ahead to recruit us from the Ministry of Finance some weeks ago, neither is it the budget because the provision have been made for us already but needs to study our documents.

We understand that things must be done rightly and agree to the ongoing investigations underway, the Hon. Minister should not elapse this whole week without saying anything about the suspension since he has all the Directors available for prudent and effective briefing on the whole process. If by the close of the week the suspension is not lifted, we have no option than to do whatever we have to do to readdress our situation. If it is picketting at the Jubilee house or series of demonstrations we have to embark on to make our issue attended to, we have to do it. The date and time will be communicated to you soon. We have to embark on this all important assignment before the budget is read. If not, we are doomed.

Colleagues, friends of the media, thank you for your maximum support.

Signed

Mireku Hammond
