Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta will this morning present the NPP government’s first budget statement to parliament.

The budget is expected to give detail into government expenditure and revenue generation plan for the year.

Ofori Atta will also lay out key reforms the NPP government would be rolling out to deal with the country’s numerous challenges: high debt levels, declining growth levels, increasing the budget and fiscal deficits, unemployment, among others.

But ahead of the budget statement, there are loads of expectation from the Ghanaian populace and business community.

According to the GN Research, “a major feature of this year’s budget will be its focal point on debt management and taxation reforms. This is because of the tight fiscal space which urgently needs expansion so that the government can undertake expenditures that must be well – structured to grow the economy.”

Also the government is expected to lay out strategies in implement all the tax cuts, the NPP promised Ghanaians during the campaign period.

Finally, Ghanaians will be waiting to see how the Nana Addo-administration plans to fund all its numerous ambitious campaign promises while ensuring fiscal discipline at the same time.
