After staying on his feet for over two hours to deliver want many Ghanaians say is a budget of hope, Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta received a big hug from vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Ken Ofori-Atta presented his maiden budget statement in parliament on Thursday.
He announced major tax cuts in line with promises the NPP made ahead of the 2016 elections. In some cases, the government has completely abolished some taxes introduced by the previous Mahama administration.
One of the key nuisance taxes abolished was the one on the importation of spare parts.
When all was said and done, the Finance Minister got big thumps up from the head of the economic management team, Dr Bawumia and senior minister, Yaw Osafo Maafo.
