Ghana celebrated its 60th anniversary Monday, March 6, 2017. The celebration attracted hundreds of participants both local and foreign to the Independence Square renamed Black Star Square.
The celebration was also replicated in all 10 regions of the country.
A wave of energetic dances from all 10 regions, a giant lantern carrying the nation’s flame of hope, a troupe of acrobats, the run by the legendary Azumah Nelson, a ground-shaking 21-gun salute, precision in the movement of arms and feet of the 1,200 schoolchildren and 1,200 security personnel set the stage for a colourful event.

The icing on the cake was the speech by President Nana Akufo-Addo.
Ghana gained independence from its colonial masters, the Great Britain on March 6, 1957.
