Being a student at the Aggrey Memorial Zion school in the Central region comes with great opportunity but also startling challenges. Boarders in the school are being denied 6 hours of rest as bed bugs invade their beds.
This troubling development is feared to have affected the flow of academics as students appear for classes with heavy eye bags, having suffered tortuous nights of sleepless rest.
“The school was able to control the bedbugs infestation in May 2016…however on the return of students to school in September 2016 the bedbugs resurfaced suggesting that some of the students bring the bedbugs from their homes,” Rev. Buadu said.
So far, authorities of the school have petitioned government and health workers to come to their aid. Bed bug invasion remain one of the most troubling phenomenon facing most schools in Ghana today with cases of schools shutting down and classes interrupted reported.
