Speaking on the Delay Show, Menaye Donkor said that she met her husband in Germany in a hotel lobby. She said that although he tried to "obviously make his moves" right from the get-go, she confessed that it took about 8 months for things to get going between the two of them.

When asked by Delay if she set out looking for a footballer, she said that she didn't even know footballers. She did say, however, that her cousin (Ama K Abrebrese) knew of him and offered to make introductions.

The former Miss Universe Ghana 2004 related that what caused her to change her mind and won her over to her husband was the fact that they share a lot of things in common. Like their empathy, for instance, and the way Sulley Muntari "just got on board to support" her in a charity work.

"I didn't even want to be in a relationship because I wanted to see the world, I wanted to be independent," Menaye told Delay, adding that, "And I believed long distance relationships don't work".

She also dispelled rumors that Sulley's mother had concerns about their marriage, saying that Sulley's mom is a lovely woman and that no such thing occurred.
