Former president John Mahama has called on member of the public to reflect on the toils of Ghanaian women on the occasion of International Women's Day, which is commemorated on March 8.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Mahama said mothers, sisters and wives were toiling hard in the country and must be recognised
"Let's dedicate today to reflect on the toils of our mothers, sisters and wives. And let's commit to making the world a better place for all girls and women," he said.
The International Women's Day, originally called International Working Women's Day, is celebrated on March 8 every year. It commemorates the struggle for women's rights.
Mahama's comment comes barely two days after he was widely praised on social media for being one of very few Ghanaians dignitaries to wear the official Ghana @ 60 cloth to the Ghana @ 60 parade.
Social media users complimented Mahama on the dress, saying that it fitted him perfectly.
