Chairperson of the Ghana Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs. Charlotte Osei, has stated that she tries to pay little attention to her critics, and focus more on what the country needs.
In the run-up to last years hotly contested general elections, Mrs. Osei came under heavy criticism from the then opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). Among other things, she was accused of colluding with the then Governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) party in order to help the then incumbent candidate retain power.
Following the president results, then President Elect Nana Akufo Addo commended Mrs. Osei for a her diligent work in organizing a thorough election process.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Aba Anamoah on GHONE, EC chairperson tried to elaborate what ranks high in her priorities list, and what she chooses to disregard with regards to her critics.
“For whatever you decide to do in life, if the goal is lofty enough there will be obstacles. Sometimes you do not decide it, sometimes it is a higher purpose.
“I get a lot of inspiration from the Bible and I don’t know of anyone in the Bible that God ever gave an assignment and it was easy…there are going to be obstacles and those obstacles build you up.
“You just need to focus on the assignment and where you draw your strength from, you need to have good people around you who will support you…and you need the haters as well, because the haters will draw you closer to God…I don’t know my haters and I am not sure I care.”
