As the world celebrates International Women's Day, Anita De-Soso, the vice chairperson of the National Democratic Congress has said that women need to look up to men.
According to her, women can hope to achieve what men have, if they hold men in high regard, saying if women respect men, men would teach them.
Madam De-Soso was speaking on NEAT FM when she said, "If you are dealing with a man and you want him to respect you, you must first show him that respect to have it back. Women must respect and pamper men, by so doing men will be willing to guide us [women] in all endeavours.”
“Women, we are the neck and men are the head, we must support and respect them to get that back from them."
International Women's Day is an annual celebration of the strides made towards women empowerment and to acknowledge and reflect on the inspiring stories of women who played extraordinary roles in the development of their society.
The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day celebration is: “Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030”
According to the UN, the goal of this year's theme “is to consider how to accelerate the 2030 Agenda, building momentum for the effective implementation of the new Sustainable Development Goals, especially goal number 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls; and number 4: Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning”.
The UN hopes by the year 2030, women will be equal to men in every aspect of human endeavours.
