Some female students of the university of Ghana are angry over what they describe to be the phenomenon where lecturers are demanding to have intimate relationships with them before granting them a pass in their papers.
The petition, filed by the women commission of the school’s representative council (SRC), are proposing that authorities of the school publish on its website and in the dailies, the full details male lecturers who sexually abuse female students.
“What abuse takes away from you is your dignity; so then you don’t even have much of it left to be going around talking about it in the first place. That accounts for a lot of the reasons why you don’t hear about it (sexual abuse). But truly it happens, a lot of it happens” Yaa Gyamfua, an SRC executive revealed to Citi FM
Unfortunately, most female university students suffer scary experiences with their abusive male lecturers who demand intimate favours from them - a development which has seen most students disrespect the integrity of male lecturers in Ghana.
