End speculative claims on UG student's death- University authorities

The management of the University of Ghana has asked the public to refrain from spreading false notions about the circumstances leading to the death of the final year student who fell to her death from the fourth floor of her Akuafo Hall hostel.

In a statement signed by the university's director of public affairs, Mrs. Stella Amoah, the school's authorities said, “the University is aware of the many speculations currently going on, assigning reasons for the death; and calls on members of the University community and the general public to refrain from making any speculations on the incident and allow investigations to be completed."

"The University is distraught by the incident, and University officials led by the Vice-Chancellor, have had initial interaction with the parents of the deceased. The University’s Counseling Centre is currently offering counseling services to the deceased’s roommates, immediate family members as well as fellows and employees at Akuafo Hall, Annex A," the statement added.

On Wednesday, March 10, 2017,the deceased Jennifer Nyarko fell from the fourth floor of her hostel building at dawn and cracked her skull.

According to a Citi FM report, the university released the statement to the public and the media, , stating it is yet to receive a full police report on details surrounding the death of the student and thus urges the public to desist from drawing conclusions about the tragedy.
