A taxi driver identified only as Aye has taken his life at Half Assini in Jomoro district of the Western Region.
Aye was found hanging on a mango tree, according to a report by mynewsgh.com.
The report quoted Philomena Yirankyi, a resident of the area, as saying that Aye committed the act on Saturday morning.
“A food vendor in the area disclosed to the police that he came there earlier this morning and said he wanted to buy some food but was told the food was not ready only to be told at about 6am that he committed suicide by hanging on mango tree at Peace Town a suburb of the area,” she said.
The news has sparked shock on social media, prompting questions as to why many people are committing suicide of late.
It comes barely two weeks after a female student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology took her own life.
Last week, a female student of University of Ghana also fell from a four-storey building on campus, something some have ruled as a suicide.
