Akufo-Addo was on "most dangerous CPP members" list after 1966 coup – Kwesi Pratt

President Akufo-Addo has been cited to be in the red books of the National Liberation Council responsible for overthrowing Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Renowned journalist, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, in an interaction with Radio Gold has revealed that when the National Liberation Council which overthrew the government of Ghana’s Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, drew up the list of the “most dangerous CPP elements” to be arrested that morning, President Akufo-Addo’s name was enlisted.

“So if the CPP was such a bad organization and had committed all of these atrocities, it was with the support, concurrence and participation of His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Isn’t it strange that a member of CPP up until the morning of February 24, 1966, is the one leading the charge,” Kwesi Pratt revealed.

The response by Kwesi Pratt follows concerns raised over the president changing the independence narrative during the Ghana at 60 speech. But even after all these criticisms, the president has come hard at his critics stating that he did no wrong in his speech.
