- Reportedly he woke up early in the morning after a night of heavy drinking and began to accuse his wife of cheating on him and contracting the virus
- The conflict grew physical and the husband kicked the woman in the stomach with a boot
Tinashe Bepura, a man from Sakubva, Zimbabwe attacked his wife after he found out that the woman was HIV positive.
The man pleaded guilty to assaulting his wife, however the judge let him off with a small $100 fine (GHC460).
When questioned why he acted in such a manner Bepura answered: “Your Worship, this woman is promiscuous. She recently tested HIV positive and wants to continue sleeping around that’s why I assaulted her to stop her from behaving this way.”
Bepura stated that he tested negative for HIV but did not bring the evidence to court.
According to the report Tinashe Bepura came home drunk and began to question his wife about her HIV status and fell asleep. He woke up early in the morning and began to accuse her of cheating on him with a local policeman.
The conflict escalated to the point that Bepura attacked his wife and kicked her in the abdomen with a boot.
When his neighbours heard the racket they stormed into Bepura’s house and restrained the man.
