Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Secretary General of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticized the size of President Nana Akufo-Addo's government, saying that Ghanaians have been let down.
According to the NDC general secretary, President Nana Akufo Addo's choice to create a large government has “let down the masses”. Specially since during the run-up to the December 7th general elections the then New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo promised to “cut down the size of the government” if voted into office.
Speaking to host of Morning Starr Francis Abban on Starr FM, Mr. Asiedu Nketia related that the size of the Akufo-Addo led administration will mean that there will be a rise in government spending. The opposite of what the NPP promised during their campaign.

“If you are on the Progressive part of government, you are likely to end up with a bigger government.
“Increasing the size of government will mean spending of too much money to run the country… NPP mentioned that they will cut down on government. Unfortunately, they are increasing the numbers.”
“They have let down the masses that they will cut down the size of government. They have ended up with a bigger government… they should come out to explain to us.
General Secretary Nketia's comments come in the wake of reports that President Akufo-Addo will announce a total of 50 deputy minister appointees for his government.
