Dr. George Sipa- Adjah Yankey, the former director of the Ghana Gas Company Ltd has refuted rumors that he is seeking to contest for the National Democratic Congress flagbearership in the 2020 general elections.
In a statement signed by Sipa Yankey on Thursday, he declared emphatically that he had no intentions to seek for the top position at the NDC, or any political party for that matter.
According to a 3news.com report, Dr Yankey was responding to rumors flooding social media outlets that suggested he had political ambitions in the next general elections.
However he has denied these claims, stating his only focus currently is on writing his memoir and starting a legal, finance and investment consultancy firm.
In his statement, Dr Sipa Yankey said, "I wish to state for the record that I have no intention of contesting the Presidential elections of 2020 on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or any other political party or as an independent candidate."
"I have decided to spend my retirement in reflection over my long period in public and political office. I will, however, continue to give my unflinching support and assistance to the NDC, the party that I love and which I have loyally served during my political career," the statement added.
