Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, the Majority leader in parliament and the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs has defended President Akufo-Addo's appointment of 110 ministers.
According to him, examining the president's government on its efficiency rather than its size is best way forward.
He stated that the while the new government is a large one, the results that will be achieved once the work begins, will be enough justification.
According to a Citi FM, report, the majority leader was addressing parliament when he assured that the size of government will be justified in the long run.
He further urged the Appointments Committee to work expeditiously during the vetting process.
Last week, President Akufo-Addo nominated 50 new deputy ministers and 4 more officials into other ministries, bringing his total ministerial appointments to 110. This makes his government the largest in the Fourth Republic.
While the president has come under heavy criticism by sections of the public and the opposition for his large government size, he has defended his action.
President Akufo-Addo stated in an interview with Ghana Television, that due to the various challenges currently facing the country, such a large force was needed to resolve the issues.
