President Akufo-Addo has said he had to fight against powers and principalities to emerge victorious in the 2016 elections.
He stated that even though there many spiritual obstacles against his campaign, he never forgot that "battle is the Lord's."
According to a Starr FM report, President Akufo-Addo was addressing the congregation at the Glorious Word Power Ministries, led by Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah, when he said God was a major factor in his victory.
“In the just ended elections, we knew that we were fighting with powers and Principalities. In spite of this however, there was one thing that kept coming to me and that is the fact that the battle was the Lord’s. Going forward we all need to pray very hard that the change we all want will happen in our country,” he said.
The President visited the church to express gratitude to its leader, Prophet Owusu Bempah, for his support throughout the 2016 election period, and to also ask for prayers as he worked through his first term.
In 2016, Akufo-Addo emerged victorious in the general elections and beat the then President, John Mahama , to become the 5TH President of the 4th Republic, making Mahama the first sitting president to be defeated in elections in the country.
