The New Patriotic Party will observe the one year anniversary of Mr. Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey's today by way of a church service and a subsequent gettogether.
Jacob Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey passed away in March 20th, 2016 in a London hospital at the age of 70. This was following a long and arduous battle with Leukemia, a group of cancers that usually begin in the bone marrow and result in high numbers of abnormal white blood cells.
Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey, a natural communicator, had a successful career in the advertising industry before he made the move to begin his political one. He started off in 1966 as a commentator, scriptwriter, and presenter with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).

He join the advertising industry three years later as an account executive with Lintas West African - now called MullenLowe Accra - an advertising company. Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey excelled in his roles and rose through the ranks to become the General Manager of Lintas in Ghana by 1974. He was also a past President of the Ghana Advertising Association.
Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey had also worked with the World Health Organization between 1984 and 1999. He was plenary speaker at the World Summit on AIDS, London, and also participated in the Second International Symposium on sexually transmitted disease in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
Between the years of 2000 to 2007, Jake Obetsebi-Lampty occupied three ministerial positions, namely the position of Information Minister, Tourism Minister Modernization of the Capital, and Tourism and Diasporan Relations. By the year 2010, Jacob Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey had risen to become National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party.
The party's General Secretary, Mr. John Boadu, stated that the party will hold a memorial service to commemorate Jake's memory. He added that the party will move to its headquarters to continue commemorative celebrations.
“Jake’s contribution to the NPP can never be forgotten even in death, hence the celebration”, and added, "The service will be held at 8am at the Ridge Church and after that we will converge at the national headquarters to continue the celebration,” he said.
