Cadman Mills, the brother of the late President John Evans Atta Mills , has denied assertions that the former president died of throat cancer, which he got from engaging in oral sex.
In a wide-ranging interview with Accra-based Starr FM on Thursday, Cadman said the official autopsy report of his late brother showed that he died of a "very massive stroke".
Cadman said days before Mills died, he complained of severe neck pain and sensitivity to light. He said the symptoms pointed to the very beginning of a stroke.
"Let's tell the truth. He didn’t die of truth cancer …I know he will forgive me. Prof Mills had a growth in his sinuses and it was quite sizeable, that some people call pre- cancerous, others call cancerous, I don’t know," he said.
Cadman also rejected assertions that Mills was not fit to contest the 2008 elections.
According to him, doctors conducted crucial tests on him and concluded that he was fully fit to stand for elections.
Cadman went on to add that Mills was one of the loneliest Ghanaian presidents ever, saying that he was neglected by his appointees and other people close to him.
He said each time he visited Mills' quarters at the Osu Caste - the then seat of government - the former president would be sitting in a chair very quietly.
Cadman said sometimes, he called people that he knew were the late president’s friends and told them to go visit him.
