A report from the Ghana health service has shown that close to 1,224 cases of unsafe abortions were in 2016 alone.
Chief executive officer of Global Media Foundation (GLOMEF) has revealed that the menace was getting out of hand especially when most young ladies die in the process.
“We can no longer postpone sexual education among adolescent people because they are actively engaging in sex,” he said
Unsafe abortions remain highly illegal in Ghana with prison sentences ranging from 10 to 15 years. But despite existing laws, most quack doctors lurk around towns and city centers to embark on the said act.
